4th of July weekend.. a little delayed!

Happy 4th of July! A couple weeks late...
Tradition continued with a pool party at Jack and Susie's house... complete with a margarita machine, cold beer, and pool basketball!
Drew is really loving the pool this summer... he has a Puddle Jumper and is a lot more independent in the pool with it.

I can't believe my sweet baby Cody is already 4 months... time flies!!! Love him!

Rangers Game!

We went to the Rangers game last week with both boys...we had NO clue what to expect (especially from Drew...would he love it? hate it?)
Aunt Marcia had this huge suite behind homeplate with all you can eat/ was quite the party! .... And Drew LOVED it! He was wonderful... it was our little mild-mannered Cody that flipped out! I think he was overstimulated to say the least...

Two of my boys wearing their Rangers hats!

Helping Daddy Out

Drew just LOVES to help Eric out in the yard. He has his own lawnmower, shovel, rake, etc. His favorite day of the week is yard work day! This evening they were picking weeds, shoveling mulch, etc.-- Drew was such a big helper! He just worships Eric... it is the cutest! We had to take our lawnmower to the "lawnmower doctor" (as Drew puts it), and had to borrow "Uncle Kiss's" (Chris's). Can't wait until he is older and actually doing the work FOR us! (like my dad made the three of us!)

San Antonio and Kiddie Park

I am a brave brave girl... flying with both boys by MYSELF to San Antonio for Andrea's baby shower and to visit friends and family! Besides a blowout on the plane (by got all over me and him...yuk!) it went fairly smooth.
Papaw got a riding lawnmower that Drew was obsessed with! My poor dad took him on at least 2 rides a day... one of them in 90+ degree heat for 30 minutes! That is true love!

My mom and I took the boys to Kiddie Park... a San Antonio tradition that has been open for over 70 years! Let's put it this way... my mom had birthday parties there when she was a little girl, and I had birthday parties there when I was little girl! It has been redone, but still has a great charm about it. Drew loved the rides and it is very "toddler appropriate"! I wish there was one in Frisco!

This ride actually goes really fast...

I think this is a cute picture of Drew before school one day. Sitting on the front steps waiting for daddy to get his coffee!

Owens Farm Playdate

Every other Monday, we have a playdate with a fun group of kiddos. Today we went to Owens Farm in Richardson and Drew loved the animals... horses, goats, chickens, geese, etc. Most of all, he loved the train and the tractor that pulled us on the hayride! It was a little hot out, but the kids had a great time!

Sunday adventure

The Preakness was on Saturday, and we all enjoyed looking at the horses on TV... but Drew seemed to REALLY love the horses! He would ask me for a horse, and I would say "go ask Daddy"... so he would go ask Eric for a horse (specifically, a BLUE horses). And back and forth all day. When he went to bed we finally said, "Ok, Drew... we will see the horses tomorrow." (thinking he would surely forget about the dang horses overnight). What is the first thing out of his mouth Sunday morning? HORSES! So living in the 'burbs as we do, there are two horses down the street. We load up the boys in the strollers and head down to the horses in scorching heat and humidity.

These are the beautiful horses...

And this is Drew's reaction when he saw the horses...

He freaked out!!! They came right up and let me pet them. Drew was on Eric's shoulders and still pansied out! So we decided Drew is "all talk"... he'll talk about the cool forklift or skid steer (yes, I know what those are...) next door and when we go up to the big ole machine he flips out! But he wouldn't stop talking about the horses. So... as said in my last post, I still needed to get Cody's two month pictures. We go to the nearby park, and this is the best picture we got...

This is typical of what we expected from Drew right now! Dropping his brother to pick his nose... gotta love it!

Cody turns 2 Months!

Sweet Baby Cody was 2 months yesterday! Time has flown by... he continues to be such a sweet laid back baby. Hopefully this weekend I will get some pictures of both the boys... Eric isn't keen on the idea of getting Cody's picture taken every month like I did with Drew. So now that I have a good camera, I get to take them!

We had Cody's 2 month well baby today. He weighed in at 12lb 6oz... a full pound heavier than his brother at this age! He got 4 shots, and I'm not going to lie... the nurses had to hand me a tissue because I hated seeing my little guy hurt like that! He has had a rather good day though aside from that! He is generally sleeping at night from 11:00-4:30a.m., and we moved him to his crib last night.

Drew is still sweet as can be, with occassional bouts of "NO MOMMY!" here and there. The doctor told me today that yes... this is a mix of the terrible two's mixed with his new brother joining the family. We give him lots of love and attention and just pray this attitude goes away soon enough. haha... We still have Gymboree on Fridays, and a playgroup that meets every other Monday. Grandma alternates watching Cody for a few hours one Wednesday, and having Drew the other... so Drew and I have a "date" day, where we go to the park, pool, etc. He loves it, and I love having some quality time with my buddy.

Baby Chloe's shower

Eric's cousin, Dennis, and his wife Kristen had baby Chloe back in February at just 25 weeks. She is such a miracle baby and will be coming home soon! These are pictures from her shower tonight.

We never get family pictures, and since I am the photographer most of the time, I rarely am in any pictures! So Lex took some pics tonight for us! They had horses, a trampoline (that Drew LOVED!), and yummy margaritas, beer, and bbq (that Eric and I loved!).

Feeding the Ducks/Terrible Two's???

So... our "perfect most of the time" Drew is NOT so perfect anymore! He is testing his boundaries, and acting VERY whiney for Mommy, which is definitely not his norm. We decided Wednesday to have Pam watch Cody for a few hours so Drew and I could have some quality time together. I guess the problem stems from a jealousy of Cody, because he was an absolute angel! These are pictures from our walk... we fed the ducks and geese, and the turtles. We even ran into a few snakes in the bank, but steered clear of them. Drew wanted to feed the snakes... I told him that snakes don't like Goldfish (our duck food), they like 2 year old little boys! Bless his heart... Drew is truly one of the sweetest kids (spoken like a true mom!)... he just isn't sure he likes sharing the attention quite yet!

Nighty Night

Is it so bad that one of our favorite times of day is Drew's "night night" time? One down for the to go! It starts with a bath and t-t on the potty. Brush his teeth, read some books ("TRUCK BOOKS"), grab Buddy and Big Buddy (his blankets), and Daddy does "airplane" into his bed. Than Drew says good night and gives kisses to "baby Cody", Mommy, and Daddy. Daddy does tickle torture and pretends he is going to sleep, and bham... Drew is good to go! All by 7:45 at the latest! He always likes Cody to lay by him for just a second... than he is like... okay, enough Mom... get him OFF my big boy bed! haha!

Drew is extremely sweet to his little brother...most 2 year olds you have to worry about them being too rough, etc. with babies. Not Drew! He is very sweet and kisses, points to his nose, eyes, belly, etc. He is involved with diaper changes, baths, etc. Needless to say, we didn't expect this, and are pleasantly suprised that we don't have to worry too much about Drew harming Cody accidentally. When Cody is not around he asks about "baby Cody" as if he misses him. How cute!
Eric likes this picture because it is Cody (at about 2 weeks) in his "Navy" gear...even wearing Navy socks! We look forward to taking the boys to Annapolis to a football game when they get older. Maybe next year?

Just a bit behind...

It was brought to my attention (by my little brother) that I am more than a "little" behing on blogging. He also mentioned that some recent major milestones have not been posted... such as our big move, the birth of Cody, etc. So I have a lot of catching up to do, but not a whole lot of free time to do it in!

Here goes nothing...

Cody Caughey (pronounced Coy--it was my mom's maiden name, and is my brother and nephews middle name... they say we stole it, but we say you can't steal a family name!) was born on March 12, 2010. He was a 1/4 oz. shy of 8 pounds and was 19 inches long. Cody is such a sweet baby... rarely fusses, and is so cuddly (unlike his big brother who was a bit more dramatic at this age!)

Here are some pictures from his birthday.

The surgery was flawless and my recovery was pretty dang easy... much better than Drew's experience let's put it that way! I didn't leave th hospital in a wheelchair with a walked in the that is a plus!
The first two weeks, Cody had his nights and days mixed up. My mom was in town to help out and let me nap during the day, as well as do our laundry, take care of Drew, cook dinner, etc. You know... spoil us rotten.
More posts to come... it may take me a while to catch up. I will probably just pick up with Cody's birth. The months before that were just chaos anyways...moving, TURNING 30 (yuk!), etc.
